Today kicks off The View Luxury Apartment’s HOLIDAY FOOD DRIVE with the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC). If you would like to participate, there is a donation box located in the main lobby of The View at 4000 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA 22203.

AFAC distributes over 80,000 pounds of food to more than 2,400 families every week. 40% of that food is donated to AFAC from food drives and grocery store donations.

On their website, AFAC adds:

“Please refrain from donating foods that are opened, expired, prepared meals, or packaged in glass. We also do not accept ice packs, styrofoam coolers, or plastic bags as donations.

Food drives can be done on your own time within your own neighborhood, group of friends, sports team, faith community, workplace, etc. You can even ask your local grocery store if you can host a storefront food drive

The food from your drive will help keep our costs down and provide us with the kinds of food we need. Food donations are tax deductible; donated food is valued at $1.70 per pound. Your food donations will be weighed and you will be asked to fill out a receipt at the time of drop-off. Food donations of 100 pounds or more will also receive a thank you letter by mail.
