Around 200 cities were analyzed during the study, which ranks the “Best to Worst” cities to retire. Along with Arlington, other cities in the D.C. metro area ranked highly including (#2) Alexandria, VA., (#4) Silver Spring, MD, (#8) Rockville, MD and (#33) Washington, D.C. sites the following factors when considering the rankings:

  • Crime rate (violent and property crimes)
  • State and local tax burden
  • Personal well-being for seniors
  • Walkability
  • Weather (temperature and precipitation)
