Late last year, Arlington County was honored to earn the title of "Platinum Level Community." This was the first community to earn the title with the U.S. Green Building Council’s new LEED for Communities program. Arlington Connection: “Arlington Cares Celebrates Community Volunteers”
A recent article from the Arlington Connection newspaper highlighted Volunteer Arlington and their second annual Arlington Cares event held at the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association in Arlington. Volunteer Arlington, a program of Leadership Center for Excellence, connects individuals, groups and businesses to local nonprofit and county volunteer opportunities. The article states, "Local nonprofit and county organizations hosted booths as part of a volunteer fair for attendees to learn about volunteer opportunities in the area. After the fair, Volunteer Arlington recognized individuals with community volunteer awards...Katie Cristol, chair of the County Board; Christian Dorsey, vice chair of the County Board; and Kelly Shooshan, COO of the Shooshan Company, helped present winners with their awards..." The Washington Post recently featured 4040 Wilson Blvd. in their popular "Where We Live" section. Author Michele Lerner writes in the article A 22-story tower is bringing 250 apartments to Ballston:"Brandywine Realty Trust and the Shooshan Co. recently announced that vertical construction has started on 4040 Wilson, the final phase of the Liberty Center development in Ballston. When complete, the 22-story building will be the tallest in Ballston and will include 188,000 square feet of office space, more than 37,000 square feet of retail space and 250 apartments. The building will include a rooftop conference and events space with views of Washington."Michele also notes the convenient location with a close proximity to Ballston Quarter, the Metro station and many restaurants and shops. In addition, the "Building amenities include a Vida fitness center and parking with separate areas for the office, retail and residential tenants.
